Things You'll Need
4 black pool noodles (or foam pipe insulation)
4 6-ft. pieces of 9-gauge fencing wire
Small piece of cotton clothesline
Half of a 9.6-in. craft foam ball
1 5.6-in. craft foam ball
Black duct tape
6-in. piece of 1/2-in.-thick wooden dowel
1. Add wire to pool noodles
Slide each 6-foot piece of wire inside each pool noodle. These will be your Halloween spider's legs.
Tip
Most hardware stores or feed stores carry 9-gauge fencing wire and will cut it to length for you.
2. Tie the noodles together
Use a half-hitch knot to cinch the center of the pool noodles together with the clothesline. Pull the knot as tight as you can while keeping the pool noodles as flat as possible to keep them from bunching up on top of each other. Trim the ends of the cord.
3. Make the spider's body
Cover the foam balls with black duct tape. This will be your giant spider's body.
Connect the head to the body with a 1/2-inch wooden dowel.
4. Assemble the full spider
Place the spider body on top of the legs and wrap more black duct tape around the body and legs to attach them together.
5. Bend the legs
Bend the legs to get the desired effect for your spider and maximize the fright factor of this spooky decoration.
Place the spider on your porch or adhere him to a giant spiderweb. Happy Halloween!
