Things You'll Need

  • Large Bucket

  • 3 gallons of distilled water

  • 8 ounces of bubble bath

  • 8 ounces of rubbing alcohol

Perhaps it's the middle of summer and you are longing for a snowy winter's day, or maybe the season has already arrived but there still isn't a snowflake in sight. It's time to play God and create your own snow — fake snow that is. The combination of a snow machine and snow fluid will do just that, but the fluid is far from cheap. Make your own snow fluid and save money.

Step 1

Clean out a large bucket or purchase a new one. Position the bucket the right way up on a work area.

Step 2

Fill the bucket with one gallon of distilled water.

Step 3

Measure out eight ounces of bubble bath in a measuring jug. Pour the bubble bath into the bucket of water.

Step 4

Stir the bubble bath and distilled water mixture well before moving on to the next step.

Step 5

Fill a measuring jug with rubbing alcohol, also known as isopropyl alcohol, until it contains eight ounces of the liquid.

Step 6

Pour the contents of the jug into the bucket of water with the distilled water and bubble bath. Stir the mixture in the bucket well.

Step 7

Add the fluid to your snow maker to test out the fake snow. If you find that flakes are too small or too big, then it isn't too late to make alterations.

Step 8

Pour out some of the mixture if you want larger snowflakes. Add in some more rubbing alcohol and bubble bath, but make sure the measurements for both are the same. By doing this you are lowering the amount of water in the mixture, which will make your flakes bigger and fluffier.

Step 9

Add more distilled water without increasing the amount of rubbing alcohol or bubble bath if you want smaller snowflakes. Don't exceed three gallons, but everything between one and three is fine.

Step 10

Alter the mixture in small amounts at the time, and keep testing it in your snow machine. Once you are satisfied with the snow that it creates, your snow fluid is done.

Step 11

Pour out any distilled water still in the bottle and fill the bottle up with the snow fluid you just made. Fasten the lid on the bottle and store the snow fluid in a dry area.
