Create a shoebox diorama depicting America's favorite pastime.

Create a baseball diorama representing the American pastime. Using a shoebox, art supplies and plastic toy figurines, recreate an afternoon baseball game. If you have a favorite baseball team, draw their logo, then add it to the diorama scene. By using a few artistic techniques, it is possible to give your baseball field a more realistic stadium look.

Step 1

Draw clouds on the long side of a blue sheet of construction paper, using white and gray crayons. As you draw the clouds, extend them across the length of the paper.

Step 2

Spread glue on the back of the construction paper and position the paper so the edge meets with the long edge of the shoebox. Glue the paper in so it curves toward the bottom of the shoebox, which creates a more natural-looking sky.

Step 3

Draw half-circles, representing people in the top row of the baseball stadium stands, on the black construction paper with the pencil. The pencil line will show even though the paper is black.

Step 4

Fit the black construction paper into the shoebox, measuring how high you want the row of heads to go inside the diorama. When you are satisfied with the height of the row of heads, press a fold into the paper where you want to cut it. Cut the black construction paper where you folded it, then glue it into the shoebox. Allow it to curve inward from one end of the shoebox to the other, creating more realistic stadium seating.

Step 5

Measure the side of the shoebox from the open top to the bottom of the shoebox, then lengthwise from one short side to the opposite side. Use these measurements to mark the dimensions you need for the stadium grass. Draw guidelines on the green construction paper using the measurements you just took of the side of the shoebox.

Step 6

Cut the green construction paper using the guidelines. Using a white crayon, draw a baseball field from the pitcher's perspective. Glue the green construction paper flat on the interior long side, creating the baseball field.

Step 7

Smear glue on the bottoms of the baseball players using a cotton swab, then position them at home plate, the pitcher's mound and each base on the baseball field.
