Hand soap is one thing that we all depend upon to help us stay healthy and clean. However, constantly buying refills for soap dispensers can be expensive, not to mention, is not the most environmentally friendly thing to do. It's so easy to make your own foamy hand soap, and it only takes two ingredients: liquid castile soap and water! (Not to mention it smells amazing, too.)

Why Make Your Own Foaming Hand Soap

It's Environmentally Friendly

Whether you are looking to go plastic free this year or are just looking for little ways to reduce and reuse, making your own foaming hand soap is a great environmentally friendly option. Not only can you reuse the foam pump and soap container over and over again, castile soap is a biodegradable and vegan, making it one of the best soaps for the environment.

Tip

Avoid castile soap brands that contain palm oil. Look for castile soap made with other plant oils like coconut, hemp, jojoba, or olive oils.

It's Cheaper in the Long Run

Castile soap is fairly inexpensive and sold at full concentrate. To make your foaming hand soap you only need one tablespoon of the concentrate for a full bottle. A standard eight ounce bottle of castile soap can fill 16 full soap dispensers! Further, you use less soap per pump, meaning your DIY foaming hand soap will last longer between refills. Now that's good on your wallet as well as the environment.
