Curtains give a room flare and privacy. Hanging curtains in a nontraditional way can give a room a personal touch. And hanging them in unconventional places, such as on wall or across inner doors, can give a room a completely new look. Learning to accomplish this using wire is the first step.,

Step 1

Measure the width of the area you want to cover with curtains. For windows, measure to the immediate outside area of the window.

Step 2

Purchase your curtains and wire using the measurements you took. Add 6 inches to your wire. Choose wire that is not easily bent.

Step 3

Run your wire through the loop intended for the curtain rod. Gather the material toward the center of the wire.

Step 4

Screw wall hooks into the wall at the desired points. You may need to drill a hole in the wall first. Be sure they are tight in the wall, with the opening of the hook facing upward.

Step 5

Place your wire with curtains threaded onto the wall hooks, leaving 3 inches of wire at each end. Use your pliers to bend the wire around the right-end hook. Wrap the wire around itself on the inner side of the hook. Pull the opposite end tight and repeat the wrapping process.

Step 6

Arrange your curtains on the wire to cover the hooks on the end. Spread the rest of the material evenly across the wire.

Tip

When purchasing your wire, test the product before buying. It needs to be stiff enough to hold the material, but flexible enough for you to bend with the use of pliers.

Warning

After a period of time, the wire, regardless of how stiff, will begin to sag. You will need to tighten the loops on each side of your curtains.
