Beans are delicious and they are a great protein source. However, if they are not treated right, they do have the ability to cause gas. This occurs because the body cannot absorb large sugars called oligosaccharides and the bacteria in the colon digest them, causing the bacteria to release gas. Luckily, there are ways to treat your dried pinto beans before cooking them to prevent gas.
