Things You'll Need

  • Undiluted white distilled vinegar

  • Bucket or sink

  • Sprayer or faucet

  • Water

Salt water stains don't have to ruin your glass.

Glass items that you have picked up along a shoreline, such as "beach glass", may be covered in stains caused by the salt water. Depending on how long the glass piece has been sitting in the water, the stains may not be removable using a dish detergent or similar soap. A liquid that is commonly found in homes can be used to break up deposits found on glass items, removing the stains that are caused by salt water.

Step 3

Remove the glass item from the white vinegar.

Step 4

Rinse the glass item with hot water from your sink's sprayer. If the glass item is especially fragile, you can rinse the item with hot water from a faucet instead of a sprayer.
