Quarter round windows are lovely little pie-shaped windows with an arch on one side. Making curtains for these windows may seem like a challenge, but they are surprisingly easy to dress up. Select your curtain fabric based on how much light you want to block at the window. Often, sheers or thin materials are used to filter light and reduce glare.

Things You'll Need

  • Hook And Loop Tape (With Adhesive Backing)

  • Cup Hook

  • Rubber Bands

  • Scissors

  • Safety Pins

  • Tape Measure

  • Fabric

Step 1

Measure along the arch side of the window casing. Cut a piece of hook and loop tape to this length with scissors. Double this measurement for the length of the fabric.

Step 2

Measure the height of the window on the vertical side. (If the horizontal side is longer, then use that measurement.) Add six inches for ruffles and hems. Cut your fabric.

Step 3

Sew a 1/2-inch hem around all sides of the fabric. Iron the hems. Baste a loose stitch across one long side of the fabric. This will be your arch side. Pull on the loose stitch until the fabric is the length of the hook and loop.

Step 4

Sew the back side of the gathered edge to the fuzzy (loop) side of hook and loop tape. Press the sticky back hook side of the tape to the underside curve of the window casing making sure it sticks well.

Step 5

Screw a cup hook into the 90-degree corner of the window sill as close to the window as possible.

Step 6

Press the hook and loop tapes together. Gather the fabric evenly toward the 90-degree corner. Form a ball with the fabric using several rubber bands or safety pins. Tuck the fabric under into the ball until it is the size you want. Loop rubber band or a pin over the cup hook to hold the curtain in place.

Tip

These curtains are easy to remove and wash. Replace your rubber bands every time as they will get brittle from the sun. You can also add hook and loop tape along the flat sides to prevent gaps of light.
