Things You'll Need

  • Broom or vacuum cleaner

  • 2 buckets

  • Water

  • 4 oz. oxygen bleach

  • Long-handled scrub brush

  • Mop or garden hose

Concrete tile, just like any other floor surfaces, will get dirty. Whether the concrete tile is on an outside patio or a basement floor, periodic cleaning is necessary. The porous nature of concrete allows it to collect tiny dirt and dust particles. Even if your concrete tile does not look dirty, once you clean it you there will be a noticeable difference in the appearance. Don't let dirt and grime buildup on your concrete floor or it will be more difficult and time-consuming to clean.

Step 2

Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of hot water. Add 4 oz. of oxygen bleach and wait about five minutes for the oxygen bleach powder to thoroughly dissolve in the water. Fill a separate bucket with 2 gallons of water for rinsing.

Step 3

Dip a long-handled scrub brush into the cleaning solution. Scrub the concrete floor tiles with the cleaning solution. Rinse out the scrub brush often while cleaning.

Step 4

Leave the oxygen bleach mixture on the concrete floor tiles for 10 to 30 minutes, depending on how dirty the floor is. The dirtier the floor, the longer the mixture needs to remain on the tiles.

Step 5

Rinse the floor with a mop and the clean rinse water if you are cleaning indoors, or a garden hose if you are cleaning outdoors. Go over the floor a couple of times with the mop to ensure that the cleaning solution has been rinsed away. Discard and change the bucket of rinse water as it becomes filled with the cleaning solution residue.

Tip

If the concrete tile is especially dirty, you may need to scrub the floor more than once with the cleaning solution. A power washer can also be used for cleaning exterior concrete tile.
