A broken diverter valve can lead to faucet leaks

Peerless Faucet Company is a highly recognized name in the faucet business. They make a variety of kitchen and bath faucets. Even the best faucets are subject to normal wear and tear over time. The diverter valve, in particular, can lead to many plumbing frustrations. The diverter valve is a piece that helps control the flow of water from a faucet's spout to its sprayer. Replacing the diverter valve yourself can save you a lot of money if done properly.

Step 1

Shut down the water. Check under your sink for a valve that you can turn to shut off the water. If you don't have a valve under the sink, locate the main water source and turn off the water by turning both the hot and the cold water valve counterclockwise. Drain the water line in the sink before proceeding.

Step 2

Place a rag in the drain so you don't lose any parts of the faucet. Place another rag on top of a flat surface, and set your parts on this rag one by one as you remove them.

Step 3

Locate the screw at the base of the handle and remove it. Depending on your model of Peerless faucet, you may need to use either a screwdriver or an Allen wrench. Twist the handle until it comes off completely.
