Neoprene is a synthetic rubber that is used heavily in several industries, including the automotive industry.

Neoprene is a type of synthetic rubber that is used heavily in many industries. It was originally created as an oil-resistant synthetic rubber to replace natural rubber. Cordura nylon is a specific type of nylon fabric that is very durable and is used to make things like tents, duffel bags, fanny packs and jackets. This specific type of nylon is waterproof. The combination of both of these materials can make for a durable and waterproof object, and there are several applications for these materials.

Step 2

Spray one side of the neoprene with an even, medium to thick coat of 3M 77 spray adhesive. This adhesive will dry clear, so if you get some on a part of the neoprene that the glue is not supposed to be on, don't worry.

Step 3

Press the cordura nylon carefully and firmly on top of the neoprene. Allow the materials to sit for at least 10 minutes.

Step 4

Use a heavy, cylindrical shaped object, such as a rolling pin or wine bottle, to roll over the glued materials. This will help the materials bond more securely.

Step 5

Allow the glue to continue drying for at least two hours before using the materials.

Tip

You can use other glues such as super glue or epoxy, but they may not dry clearly or give an even coat, causing the materials to appear lumpy.

Warning

Never use hot glue on these materials as it will melt the material.
