  • Extra virgin olive oil

Baked sea bass is quick and tasty.

Sea bass is a family of approximately 475 species of fish. These carnivorous fish are found mostly in the shallow areas of tropical, warm seas and have large mouths, long bodies and small scales. Varying in size and color, the black sea bass, the graysby and the grouper are varieties of sea bass that are valued both for sport and food. Oven baking is a quick, tasty way to prepare this fish for your family for dinner.

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mince 3 cloves of garlic and put the garlic in a small bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, 2 teaspoons of black pepper and 1 teaspoon of salt to the bowl.

Step 3

Mix the ingredients in the bowl together before placing 1 pound of scaled, cleaned sea bass in a shallow, oven-safe baking dish.

Step 4

Rub the sea bass with the mixture of olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper.

Pour 1/3 cup of white wine, or white wine vinegar, over the sea bass.

Step 6

Bake the sea bass for 15 minutes, uncovered. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning before baking for another 5 minutes. The sea bass is fully cooked when it flakes easily.

Step 7

Serve the sea bass with lemon wedges after drizzling with the juices remaining in the baking dish.

Tip

Experiment with using different ingredients, such as onion, honey and lime, when baking sea bass.
