Kronos is the God of time, whose symbol is a sickle.

In Greek mythology, Kronos (or Cronus) was a Titan god who feared that his sons would overthrow him, fulfilling a prophecy. To avoid this fate, he consumed his children right after they were born. However, his wife Rhea managed to hide his youngest son, Zeus, from Kronos. She gave him a stone wrapped in a blanket to eat instead. Dressing up as Kronos for a themed party or Halloween is a very clever costume idea that is sure to spark conversation. Knowing how to make a Kronos costume may also prove useful for various plays and musicals.

Step 1

Sew an old sheet into a sleeveless, rectangular garment that reaches about mid-thigh. Pin the shoulder pieces together.

Step 2

Secure the garment with a leather, cloth or metal belt around the waist.

Step 3

Use an X-acto knife to cut cardboard into the shape of a sickle. Kronos' symbol is a sickle so this is a great accessory for a Kronos costume.

Step 4

Use paint pens to color a brown handle and a silver blade.

Step 5

Wrap a rock in a baby blanket and carry it around as another clever accessory -- since Kronos consumed a rock instead of his son.

Step 6

Wear leather sandals or go barefoot.

Step 7

Buy and wear a laurel head wreath or make one by winding wire around leaves (fake or real) to form a circle.

Tip

If you don’t know how to sew a simple sleeveless garment, use safety pins instead.
