White fabrics can easily lose their brightness and become dark and dingy over time. While using bleach can brighten your whites, it can also cause the threads in clothing and linens to break down over time, and it can be extremely toxic. Bleach can also ruin colored clothing if residue is left behind in your wash. It's really easy to make your own fabric whitener using a few ingredients that you may already have in your pantry!
