Make a fake leg with duct tape.

Whether you are decorating for a Halloween party or making a horror film, you never know when a severed leg might come in handy. A basic and inexpensive technique for making a fake leg is to use duct tape, forming the leg on a model. This is not only simple, but you can easily customize the leg to a specific person without the need for advanced life casting techniques and materials.

Step 1

Dress a model in an old pair of jeans and socks. The pants on the leg that you want to recreate should be tucked into the sock.

Step 2

Tear 6-inch pieces of duct tape and apply them fairly tightly to the leg and foot. Overlap the pieces slightly until the entire leg and foot are covered.

Step 3

Apply a second layer of duct tape. Use a different color to make it easy to tell the two layers apart.

Step 4

Cut the pants and tape off of the leg down the back with a pair of scissors. You will have to cut all the way down the heel to remove the foot.

Step 5

Tape the fake leg closed again, and cut it off of the pants.

Step 6

Stuff the leg and foot with wadded newspaper.

Step 7

Use strips of duct tape to seal the top of the leg stump.

Step 8

Crumple duct tape slightly and apply a ring around the stump to simulate shredded flesh.

Step 9

Apply more slightly crumpled pieces of duct tape onto the top of the stump to give it texture.

Step 10

Paint the top portion of the leg with flesh-colored acrylic paint. Paint the inside of the stump with various shades of red to look like meat.

Step 11

Tear the other leg off of the pants and pull it over the leg, gluing it in place with a hot glue gun. Put a sock and shoe onto the foot.

Warning

Do not apply the tape so tight that you cut off your model's circulation.
